When Does It End?

It's been six yrs since it happen to me. It was a boyfriend I was with for 6 months. It took 5 years for me to enter into another relationship. This time with another girl. She's amazing, patient, and loving.

He was my first boyfriend. Now that I lost weight a lot of guys are nicer to me and it scares me. A guy texted me "sweet dreams" and it set me off wondering why he was being nice and being afraid I had no control of the situation.

>< when does this end? It's been 6 years.

Hell, I am so sorry to hear what you have been through, Ive suffered abuse for a lot of my life I've recently had a breakdown and have now been diagnosed with hypomania bipolar its hard to digest but I am so glad I've finally got an answer as to why I am the way I am.

6 Years after the abuse I suffered when I was 14 I had a breakdown it was the most awful time ever I was just drugged up and left I couldn't stand I couldn't feed myself ect and then they sent me home with only a CPN as support who discharged me a few weeks after.

I have been thinking the same thing. I do not think it ever ends because it is something that has profoundly impacted you. With that said, I do not think that it not ending is entirely a bad thing. Remain positive.

Hello mrawr,

I'm so sorry for what has happened to you. I hope by the time you read this you are feeling a little bit better. Yes, the healing process can sometimes be excruciatingly long!! My attack was a little over two years ago, and there are still things that completely throw me off track. But, there is no set date on "when it will end". There will be days that you are triggered less than others and you will find coping mechanisms that work better than others, but chances are that you will always be dealing with what happened to you. That's how I am. I don't forget what happened, but every day I learn a little something new about myself or my ways of dealing with situations. The support I have found on AS has also helped me so much. i hope it does the same for you.

If you ever need to talk, or you just want a friend to chat with you can always message me!

Hi Mrawr,

Welcome to AS. I am very sorry that you suffered trauma at the hands of someone who was supposed to care about you. It wasn't fair and it wasn't right. You have found a very supportive site with many wonderfully kind and understanding members. It's understandable that you are suspicious of the motives of male attention, it's not easy to trust. I am happy you have found someone to trust with your partner. I do wish you well on your healing journey.

Mary

Hello mrawr. Welcome to AS! It is my wish that you find this site as helpful and healing as I have in my healing journey.

I am part of the NST (Newbie Support Team). What that means is that I (or any of the mods/admins/NST) can help/direct you as you learn how to use the forums. Should you have questions, feel free to send a PM to any one of the AS staff.

You've taken a huge step in reaching out. This is a big step in healing from abuse of any kind. Take all the time you need in sharing. It can be scary. It's been also like 6 years for me and one of my abusive ex's. It is scary and painful but possible to heal. I'm glad to hear about your gf. :)

Know that you are not alone.

Am listening and validating you and your experiences.

I want to thank you all for posting. I am new to "AS" and I have been reading, but not posting too much. It has taken many years to get where I am to even venture into a support system like this. I hope I can find supports that I can trust. I am very much alone when it comes to support outside of therapy. I have a partner and a beautiful child, but I knew long ago the support was not something she could ever do or understand.
