Hello Heather,

Welcome to the forum. Even though this site is themed toward rape and sexual abuse, in all honesty it doesn't matter what type of abuse you have suffered, I believe it is all the same. Many of us have been physically abused as well, I am included. My parents physically abused me and my mother still verbally abuses me. It is still a betrayal as far as I am concerned. So I feel that you belong here just like the rest of us. Also, if people have told you that what you've suffered is abuse, I would believe them. And there is no rush when you decide to talk about what has happened. Please feel free to do so when you are ready to do so.
