  1. Hi, my name is Amy.  Two weeks ago I was date raped by a large man (six foot 10 inches, 350 pounds) in my own apartment.  I reported to the police, but had already taken a shower, and was in shock.  didn't get the rape kit done until two days later.  No diseases have shown up (thank God), and I am just beginning to recover.  I am a survivor and not a victim.  A couple of books are helping, I am seeking counseling, seeing my psychiatrist, seeking FMLA help here at work, and have communicated with my religious leader.  My parents do not know, but my three teenage children do.  I hope I can also speak (communicate) freely with others in this mode of communication.  Love and comfort to all...

So sorry this happened to you - but it is amazing that you're taking care of your emotional needs so soon after this horrid incident. Most people are in shock/denial/'forget it' mode.

We're here for you during your recovery and journey. Sending prayers and support your way.

:wave:Hello! Sorry I am so late to getting back to you. :sor:

Chatting - as in you are wanting to participate in a live chat with other members? :type:

If if that's the case, it depends whether you're using a desktop/laptop or a mobile smartphone.

      If you're using a desktop:

•On the left hand side of the screen, at the top there is a button that says "chat". Click it.

If you're using a mobile smartphone:

•Scroll to the top of the screen, you will see a few icons/buttons, click the one that looks like 3 horizontal bars. Next, click the button that says "browse". From that drop-down click "chat". :)

Also, you must have 10 postings before being able to access the live chat feature :)  Those can be replies to your own or other people's topics or new topics you post.  Hope this helps! So sorry to hear what brought you to AS (After Silence) but I'm glad you found us.

  3. what is the newbie support team? I am new as of today
  4. I was raped two weeks ago, Saturday night. I reported the disturbance the same night, but walked into the hospital two days later and reported the rape. It is still under investigation, but I couldn't get a stalking injunction. I fear him. 6 foot 10 inches 350 pounds with guns and ammo in his car and he had so much control and hurt me in so many ways. I don't regret reporting the crime, but of course Date Rape is looked at differently than other domestic violence. I am new to this forum and I am here to chat.
  5. I am new to this blog/chat system, but feel like I have found kindred souls with many people already. I was date raped two weeks ago, but can only imagine how horrible it would be to know your attacker for years. I already had issues with trusting men, but must be horrible when it is someone you know personally. Shame is part of the process of healing and should be recognized, but don't be too hard on yourself. I try not to be. Some feel date rape doesn't exist because she/he asked for it. That is where the shame comes in it for me. The fact that I exposed my children to the danger of t
