  1. Ooh, yeah, yoga definitely could have that effect on many people. I've done high-intensity workouts before, and they truly are amazing. I'm very glad it was exactly what you needed!
  2. Thanks for bumping, Ally. I'm going to post some things on here. - Japanese Mint Essential Oil (rubbing it on my temples is instantaneously a sleep aid for me, and very relaxing I've found) - Deciding on what to bake and cook (both are very grounding; even just planning on making a meal can instantly cheer me up and ground me) - Yoga is the best darned thing on this planet, I'm convinced
  3. Welcome to AS, Lisa. I hope you find this to be a supportive and uplifting community, like it's been for many of us.
  4. Welcome to AS, jessiemae. I hope you find this to be a supportive, uplifting community, as it's been for many of us.
  5. Welcome here, Nevada and MapleSunrise. I hope you both find the support and care you deserve from After Silence, that many of us found.
  6. Welcome here, meg! I hope you find the support, understanding, and compassion you so deserve. I'm sorry for what you've endured that has brought you to After Silence, but you're not alone here. Something I'd suggest for a newbie like you is taking your time going through the forums, threads, etc; to read through different things, to get an idea of how these forums work. You'll find there are a variety of different threads in different forums to discuss all types of topics. Also, know that there is no pressure to share. It's up to you, on your own terms, what you feel you want to share. - Court
  7. Welcome here, Felicity! I hope you find the support and comfort from here that so many of us have found. You're right, those who haven't endured the trauma of what we have don't quite "get it". This is full of people who "get it", which is too bad, but, you're not alone. Thanks for the chocolate! Mmm, chocolate Looking forward to getting to know you on the forums. - Courtney
  8. Welcome here, sungirl. I'm sorry for the reason(s) you're on After Silence, but know that you're not alone. Just so you know, there is no pressure to talk before you're ready. It's up to YOU to share what, and when. The suggestions that fallenstar gave you as far as non-triggering threads go are fun areas to check out, and to get to know some of us members without fearing being triggered.
  9. Welcome here, Grace7. I hope you find After Silence to be a great source of support and healing, as it's been for so many of us on here. Though I'm sorry for the reason(s) you're here, know that you're not alone.
  10. Welcome here, purplewv. As others have said, I want to echo that you are VERY worthy and deserving. You have a right to be here. You're not the only male member on After Silence, just so you know. I'm sorry for the reason(s) that brought you to this online community, but, we're a supportive caring bunch. As far as, "How to make it go away" - It sadly just doesn't go away. We've all wondered that too, though, as sunshinee has stated. All we can simply do is move forward, one step at a time. Sometimes it's two steps forward, one step back. However, the only direction you do have to go is forward
  11. Thanks for the update there, Rose.
  12. Welcome to After Silence, Josephine. I'm going to provide you with a general guideline of how this website works. There are different threads for different topics, as I'm sure you've noticed. Exploring them is the best way to get an idea of where to post what. For posts that you believe could trigger someone, posting a "Trigger Warning" or "TW" is what members on here do, before writing out details of abuse, details of mental illness, whichever you think, in your discretion, could set someone off. That's the basics to start out with - best of luck to you as you continue to figure out After Sil
  13. I did yoga again this morning; will be meeting a friend for coffee in the evening.
  14. We're ready to listen when you're ready to talk. Sending you support You're among friends here on After Silence.
  15. This morning, I woke up early to do half an hour of yoga and enjoy a cup of coffee.
  16. Welcome here, AliciaRaven. In reading your greeting, I sense a determined and strong personality who recognizes that you deserved none of the abuse, and that none of it was your fault. That's wonderful. I hope you find the support and understanding you're looking for here in After Silence. We're a caring, supportive, helpful community. Looking forward to seeing you around the boards.
  17. (((errson))) and (((lilacfairy))) Welcome here, you two. Sorry that you have to be here. I hope you find the peace and comfort you deserve through AS. We're a bunch of understanding folk here.
  18. Welcome here, AdlerNY. I hope you find the support, comfort, and understanding that you seek. You're definitely not alone in dealing with the struggles that come with abuse/assault. Looking forward to getting to know you more on these boards.
  19. Hello Gone, I want to echo everything that Guy said to you. I'm very sorry for everything that has happened to you during this tough time. Feel free to post, vent, PM me, anything that you feel you may need during this time. I understand how it feels to feel lost and when PTSD snowballs out of control, and how it feels it's going to destroy you. You won't be destroyed; there is hope and life for you Coming from experience, I know this to be true. Please take good care of you during this time. - Courtney
  20. Welcome here, meeegs. As someone who didn't press charges against my abusers, I don't have any tangible advice to offer you in this department. However, if you look under the thread topic "Legal Support", I'm sure you'll find something there; if no answers, at least support and understanding. It's not fair, there truly is no tangible/true justice for us survivors. I'm very sorry for the reasons you've come to join AS, yet I hope you find this community to be a supportive and safe source of comfort. Looking forward to getting to know you more on here.
  21. Welcome here, marz. It's good to meet you on here I'm very sorry for how the court case has brought the trauma to the forefront for you. I know there are many survivors (myself included) who have had specific triggers years after the fact that brought everything back to the forefront. It can be such a damn frustrating journey at times, but I've been on it for awhile now, and it's been soooo worth it. You're among friends here on AS, and I hope you find the support and comfort you're seeking. Looking forward to getting to know you on here. - Courtney
  22. Oh, never mind. Read your comment.
